Beacon Talent fills VP Sales, CRO, AE, SDR and Customer Success seats for software companies in Philadelphia and its suburbs, in an average of 3 weeks. Recruiters who know what a quota-carrying seat demands, not generalists matching keywords.

Look at where the area's software companies file their addresses and the first surprise is how few are downtown. Vertex, the indirect tax software company, gives 2301 Renaissance Blvd in King of Prussia as its principal office in its 2025 annual report. It counted more than 2,100 full-time employees at December 31, 2025, 73% of them in the U.S., and reported 2025 revenue of $748.4 million, up 12.2%, with software subscriptions at 85.5% of the total. The same report says it sells through direct and indirect channels to enterprise and midmarket businesses with complex tax operations, that its direct team is split into inside and field sales organized by territory and company size, and that its headquarters lease of about 189,500 square feet runs to September 30, 2028. Bentley Systems, which sells software for engineering and infrastructure projects, gives 685 Stockton Drive in Exton, owns that headquarters, and says it houses its principal sales, marketing and professional services activity. Bentley's 2025 revenue was $1,501.8 million, up 11.0%.
Comcast is the other name that shapes the local talent pool. Its 2025 annual report lists One Comcast Center in Philadelphia as its address, says the Connectivity & Platforms business is headquartered there, and reports about 179,000 full-time-equivalent employees company-wide at December 31, 2025. That is a media and connectivity employer, not a SaaS vendor, so in Beacon's view its sellers bring large-account habits that still need testing against a software motion.
New money is smaller but more local. FSH Technologies, based in Philadelphia, announced a $20 million Series A on August 21, 2026, co-led by Lachy Groom and Acrew Capital, taking total funding to $25 million. It sells a platform that replaces aging IT systems for cities, school districts and state agencies, and said it plans to grow from 11 people to more than 45, with client strategy among the functions. Lula Commerce, whose November 2025 announcement carries a Philadelphia dateline, raised an $8 million Series A led by SEMCAP AI for software aimed at convenience stores, and says it supports more than 50 regional chains. Taken together, the buyers range from tax departments to engineering firms to city governments to gas-station operators, and Beacon's view is that the buyer a seller has already closed matters more than the logo.
For junior seats, two local sources are worth knowing. Temple's Fox School of Business has a student-run Professional Sales Organization whose Five-Step Sales Process Bootcamp leads to a certification, with a Fox Sales Challenge each December; Fox's own article notes students cannot major in sales there. Holy Family University in Northeast Philadelphia offers a Professional Sales and Marketing major with courses in relationship-driven selling and CRM tools.
Office norms are loose. Kastle Systems' Back to Work Barometer, checked in November 2026, showed Philadelphia at 42.1% weekly average occupancy against 56.5% across its ten barometer cities. CBRE's third quarter 2026 report puts Philadelphia office vacancy at 22.3% and says annual leasing of 3.7 million square feet has already passed each full year from 2020 through 2024.
"It was all Dave and the Beacon team! Loved the process, incredible talent, it's 100X better than my previous experiences."
This is Beacon's view, built from the facts above, on what changes when the desk is near Philadelphia.
Two of the largest software headquarters on file sit in King of Prussia and Exton, not Center City. A seller who pictured a downtown commute may pass on a suburban campus, and the reverse is true too, so name the office and the in-office days up front.
Vertex describes territory and company-size teams selling alongside ERP and professional-services partners. Bentley sells engineering and infrastructure software. FSH sells to municipal buyers. These are three different motions, and a candidate's last three closed deals tell you more than a VP badge.
Selling to cities and school districts means formal purchasing steps and long calendars. For seats like FSH's, ask what the candidate closed through a public buyer, how long it took and who signed. A strong commercial seller can still stall there.
Metro sales manager pay sits above the national median, while marketing manager pay sits level with it. That tells you the local market is not cheap, not what a software company should offer. Build the package from live offers and the 2026 comp benchmarks.
With Philadelphia at 42.1% weekly occupancy in Kastle's data, a five-day requirement will narrow your pool sharply. Two or three anchor days is easier to defend, and anything stricter should be priced into the offer.
Temple's Fox Sales Challenge runs in December and Holy Family teaches selling and CRM tools as part of a major. If you want SDR candidates with training behind them, reach out to those programs and their alumni well before graduation.
The table below comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) survey, May 2025, for the Philadelphia metropolitan area (BLS area code 37980). These are all-industry annual wages for the whole metro. They are not SaaS-only and they are not on-target earnings (OTE).
| Occupation | Employment | 25th percentile | Median | 75th percentile |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sales Managers | 10,200 | $107,710 | $156,500 | $217,610 |
| Marketing Managers | 8,270 | $121,320 | $166,310 | $213,550 |
| Sales Representatives (technical and scientific products) | 3,620 | $79,320 | $121,180 | $157,810 |
What this tells a SaaS hiring manager: the figures blend every industry in the metro, software companies included, so they show where a Philadelphia manager sits in the local labor market, not what a software company pays. They leave out quota-linked variable pay and equity, which is where most SaaS offers are built. For software ranges, use the 2026 GTM comp benchmarks, and see the BLS OEWS tables for the source data.
Against the national figures in the same release, the Philadelphia sales manager median of $156,500 is 5.6% higher than the U.S. median of $148,270, a gap of $8,230. The marketing manager median of $166,310 is 0.3% below the national $166,790. Technical and scientific products sales representatives, a group of 3,620, have a median of $121,180, which is 15.5% above the national $104,920. Next to a high-cost market, the picture flips: New York's sales manager median of $215,150 is 37.5% higher than Philadelphia's. Within the metro, the sales manager 75th percentile ($217,610) is 2.02 times the 25th ($107,710), so the spread inside the title is wide.
Salary history. Philadelphia's Wage Equity Ordinance has been enforced by the city's Commission on Human Relations since September 1, 2020. Employers may not ask applicants about pay history or use it to set pay. Coverage follows the job's ties to the city, not the employer's headquarters or the interview location, according to Ballard Spahr. You may still ask what pay a candidate is seeking.
Non-competes. A March 2025 summary by High Swartz LLP says Pennsylvania courts look for a protectable business interest and reasonable limits on time and area, and that an agreement introduced after hire needs something of value for the employee. Ask each candidate early what they signed and when, and have counsel read it. This is general information, not legal advice.

Many sit outside Center City. Vertex's latest 10-K gives King of Prussia as its principal office, and Bentley Systems' gives Exton. Comcast's gives One Comcast Center in Philadelphia. Beacon's view is that a candidate's commute belongs in the first conversation about any seat.
BLS OEWS May 2025 puts the median annual wage for the Philadelphia metro area at $156,500 for sales managers (10,200 employed) and $166,310 for marketing managers (8,270 employed). These are all-industry figures, not SaaS on-target earnings, so variable pay and equity at a software company sit on top.
Not for a job located in Philadelphia. The city's Wage Equity Ordinance, enforced by the Commission on Human Relations since September 1, 2020, bars asking applicants about salary history or using it to set pay. You may ask what pay they are looking for. This is general information, not legal advice.
